14Church of San Martiño de Noia
Noia · Galicia
In the medieval town of Noia, ‘little Compostela’, a Gothic church consecrated in 1434 by Archbishop Lope de Mendoza. Its monumental west portal, clearly inspired by the Pórtico da Gloria, shows Christ surrounded by twelve elders of the Apocalypse bearing musical instruments; the great rose window and trumpeting angels reinforce this extraordinary musical iconography. A single nave and a battlemented, fortress- like apse.
