Beneath the Pórtico da Gloria, where the Mestre Mateo carved the musician elders of the Apocalypse, and in the nave where his monumental stone choir once rose, lies the tomb of the Apostle Saint James the Greater. A basilica and metropolitan see, it is one of the great sanctuaries of Christendom.
