Municipality in the south of the province of Lugo, capital of the Terra de Lemos comarca and of the Ribeira Sacra. It was given the title of city in 1885 and is the second most populous municipality in the province. Its centre is dominated by the monastery of San Vicente do Pino and the castle ruins, above the Lemos valley.
