Traditional festival of the carnival cycle in the town of Laza, in the province of Ourense. On the Friday night before Ash Wednesday the fachós, or torches, are carried through the streets, and on Sunday the peliqueiros appear, in their characteristic costume with cowbells at the waist, a mask and a whip. It is a Festival of Tourist Interest of Galicia.
