Short illustrated books for discovering the people, stories and heritage of Galicia.
A collection for discovering Galicia
Cadernos Mestre Mateo is an educational collection aimed especially at readers aged 8 to 12. Each volume starts from a person, work, place or episode in Galician history and turns it into a short, visual and accessible story, originally written in Galician.
How the notebooks work
The format combines narrative, illustrations, short “Did you know?” boxes and prompts to observe, compare and investigate. The aim is to offer rigorous knowledge without turning the notebook into a school textbook: above all, it should invite readers to look, ask questions and stay curious.
Documentary accuracy
For real works, monuments and historical figures, documentary accuracy is an editorial rule. What is known with certainty is distinguished from hypothesis or tradition: “we know”, “it is believed” and “legend says” do not mean the same thing.
First titles
- No. 1 · Mestre Mateo. Master of the Pórtico da Gloria.
- No. 2 · Mestre Mateo and the stone choir. A journey through the lost stone choir of Santiago Cathedral and the music suggested by its sculptures.
